Making Pets Comfortable with Holistic Care & Laser Therapy

Administering oral medications to pets is a customary practice, and sometimes it’s hard to avoid. Our pets deserve the best care possible, and oral medications are a large part of that. Still, there are other options to consider when treating your loved one. If it’s possible for us to use an alternative treatment method that doesn’t require drugs, we want to offer it to you. Certain drugs can cause undesirable side effects that may leave your pet feeling worse than before. Some medications interact with each other in negative ways. That’s why we provide alternative modalities like laser therapy and holistic care to some of our patients here in Staten Island.

Pet Holistic Care Services

Holistic care involves looking at the bigger picture when considering a patient’s healthcare needs. This means that we take an integrative approach to treating them, considering factors such as environment, genetics, health history, and the relationship between pet and owner. Aspects of holistic care include:

  • Evaluation of the entire body
  • Supplement use
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Homeopathic care
  • Class IV laser therapy
  • Osteopathy (manipulation of the bones, joints, and muscles)
  • Reiki (stress reduction technique)
  • Combination of conventional and alternative therapies

Pet Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a safe, painless, and non-invasive procedure we can provide to some of our patients. Our Class IV therapy laser utilizes concentrated photon beams to stimulate cellular activity to boost healing and decrease pain. Laser therapy sessions can take as little as 5 to 10 minutes, and some patients see improvement after 3 to 5 sessions. Here at our animal hospital in Staten Island, we offer patients the option of laser therapy to help treat a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Allergies
  • Acute & chronic otitis
  • Infections
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Degenerative joint disease
  • Gingivitis & gum disease
  • Inflammation
  • Wounds
  • Lick granulomas
  • Hot spots
  • Hip dysplasia
  • …and more

We’ll Help You Make the Right Decision

If oral medication is not producing the best results for your pet, holistic care and/or laser therapy may be an option for them. Only after a thorough examination of your animal companion and a discussion about next steps will we suggest holistic care as a possibility. Ultimately, the type of care your pet receives is up to you—we want you to be informed and confident in knowing that your pet is getting the best treatment.
